Adam and Amber got hitched in Wayzata, MN on Saturday August 12th. Check out their website to see more pics and to read their 'how we met' story. I was asked to be groomsman which meant I had to dress up and act like an adult. Adamis a real good friend and that's why I was willing to perform such a difficult task.

I took a red eye flight Thurs night/Friday morning. My flight connected in
Dallas/Fort worth instead of Chicago like planned. DFW airport is put together
nicely. It has new leather seats in most terminals and giant flat-screen
displays for arrivals/departures. The train system is super easy to use and
even easier to find. The flight to DFW is shorter than to Chicago so I didn't
sleep more than a half hour in First class(thanks Lucy). Dallas to Minneapolis
was a tiny tiny plane that was sooo loud I couldn't sleep at all. On one of the
runways in Minneapolis I spotted an SR-71 Blackbird. That was the coolest jet
ever!

I met alot of the family members the day before at the Groom's dinner. I took a
nice power nap and ate some delicious cheeseburgers at his Uncle's house in
Farmington, MN. I tried my best to NOT teach his littlest cousins any new
swear-words. It was more than 24 hours until the wedding and I was already in
my adult character earlier. That's method.

As you can see, the tuxedos were pretty swanky. No bow ties but it was really
really hot. I am not used to humidity anymore and was sweating like a cat in a
chinese restaurant. No one else in the wedding lives in a desert but that didn't
stop them from sweating either....so maybe it was just hot.

Some friends showed from High School showed up for the wedding. Heather and
Joey, Mel and Jo and Terri and her husband. Melanie and Jovannae still
inseperable even after the demise of Coach's. I always knew they would outlast Paris and
Nicole. Missing was Kube. He told everyone that he thought I would beat him up
if I saw him. I am not charging him interest. If I thought it would do any
good I would have "taken it out of his hide"(My Dad's saying) in Fargo.
One time I threw him in the trunk of a car and took him to his parents house
but that's not beating someone up, Danie.

After the wedding we dashed to Downtown Minneapolis where there was a yacht
waiting for everyone. Everyone hopped on the boat we headed down the
Mississippi. Huck Finn never had it so good. It was a really nice boat. I drank
probably the most champagne ever in my life. I did however eat so much good
food I was still able to act like an adult. Okay, a slightly louder version of
an adult who urges you to drink champagne with him. After the party it's the
after party, after the after party it's the hotel lobby, yadda yadda yadda more
on that soon enough.

Funny story about the married couple, Amber has decided to keep her last name.
While at the DMV to change to her new hyphenated name she was told that there
isn't enough room for Schumacher-Silbernagel. So they shortened it to say
'German'. Just kidding.

Okay. I went to and participated in a wedding on August 12th and I am just now getting to blog about it. The cause for the delay is due to my lack of a computer. Remember when I was visiting my mommy in San Diego and doing sweet flips in the ocean? Well before we hit the road to Cali we turned the thermostat up to 85 to conserve energy. But I didn't turn off the computer. I came home it was off but didn't turn back on. Now I am crossing my fingers that I just have to replace the power supply but in the meantime I have been using Danie's laptop. It's a nice laptop but she bought it from Dell so it's likely to explode at any moment.

I am a computer nerd and like laptops but I also like having a mouse. Danie doesn't and wouldn't even leave mine plugged in to her computer! It only takes up one USB port Danie! This thing takes up 30 USB ports.

That's why I haven't posted recently. Right now I am actually typing this post is in Notepad.exe at work.

I've found one of the coolest inventions ever. It's called the 2 second tent. It's cleverly named after the amount of time it takes to set up. Click on the link and look at the photos. Only 69 bucks!!!! Get yours in time for WE Fest Heaven in 2007.

Speaking of festivals, the 5th annual Lebowski Fest is poppin' off September 30th in Louisville, KY. Everyone who really, really loves The Big Lebowski will be there (and some kahlua lovers too). It's one of my favorite movies and I remember watching it for the first time just because it was made by the same dudes who wrote/directed/produced the movie Fargo. I was confused to say the least and after the second time I watched it I was hooked. It has now reached cult status and people all over the world have sent in pictures promoting the festival date.

They're ridiculus you have to check them out.

Speaking of pictures (sweet segway #2), check out these panoramic shots of the Alps. This
one is my favorite. I think it's three seperate shots from a Paul Berglund-esque digital camera and then photoshopped together.

Danie and I haven't played poker at the Rio, but we did enjoy the buffet last Christmas(remember?)

I made a couple trips to spectate some of the final tables. Look for Me and Lucy on ESPN in October. We had a really good seat behind a couple of early all-ins and I am convinced we will make it on the air. I will remind everyone closer to the air date to watch.

Danie and I watched Phil Hellmuth win his tenth gold bracelet. He was super-super excited. There was a super dramatic all-in by Phil Hellmuth that doubled him up and put him back in contention. After raise, re-reraise, re-raise, re-raise pre-flop Phil turned up a pocket pair of 5s and Juha Helppi (finnish boy) had Ace of hearts and 6 of diamonds. They are off to the races and are both even money to win after five cards get dealt.

The flop came King, Jack, 5 all diamonds. Phil made three of kind but Juha had a flush draw. Phil spikes a set and stays completely still. Turn is a Queen....of DIAMONDS! Juha makes a flush and now Phil is behind. But the river is Queen for a board of Kd Jd 5d Qd Qh. This makes Phil fives full of Queens and he doubles. The last hand was was Phil's Ace-Jack against Juha's Ace-nine. The funny thing is I thought Phil would stand up and act all excited to see he was a huge favorite to win his tenth bracelet but he just sat still until all five cards were dealt. It wasn't until after the river that he stood up clapped his hands, yelled "YEAH BABY", and went over to hug his wife. The Finns were dejected in the Juha section and Danie was ready to go home.

Oh, and look at this kid. He turned 21 years old in June. Played in the World Series smaller tournaments leading up to the Main Event making FOUR final tables and winning two of them! He was the youngest ever to win a bracelet and now(obviously) the youngest to ever win TWO! Oh and he took home 1.4 million and quickly paid his parents back the money he borrowed from his college fund to play.

I am going to be blogging from my new job I have just decided. I work at
Expedia now and they let us access the internet/email which was the opposite of
Tmobile. One limitation they do block some sites like www.blogger.com. Even
worse they block cardplayer.com. So am trying out the email updates for now.
Hopefully they will work. This is really just a test message for now and once I
get home I will figure out how to do hypertext. Danie has been email blogging
from her cell phone already and it sickens me when she is that far ahead
technology-wise. But everything about her blog is ahead of me. I do ask the
viewers the following : Does she have a video on her blog? Can she do a sweat
flip into the mighty Pacific?

This is turning out to be a long post. I won't proofread it. I am in training
now and I have a lot of down time. During I have been playing the map
game(you've seen it on danie's blog) I will be posting my score soon.

World Series of Poker

Although it's not the main event there was still plenty of drama....for those playing. You see, the only more boring than playing in a poker tournament is watching other people playing in a poker tournament. I still had to check out the action going on down at the Rio for this year's World Series of Poker. This picture is from the final table of the $2,000 buy-in Omaha Hi-Lo(rules) event. This wasn't being televised by ESPN but they still use the ESPN final table. I was in the bleachers for about an hour and after I took this picture I was told by security that I can't use a flash. The rest of my pictures didn't turn out to well.

All is not lost though. I took a video of an interesting hand. Daniel Negreanu is short-stacked and was all in with three opponents.

You might think Daniel's reaction is funny but I personally like Cuong Do's reaction the most. He is the player at the far end of the table who painfully folds his two pair after a bet by Jack Zwerner. When the cards get turned up he sees that he was bluffed out of the sidepot and that Daniel is still in the tournament. So he loses the pot and doesn't get to move up the money ladder.

It's considered proper tournament "etiquette" to check your hand all the way down to the river to increase the likelyhood of the all in opponent losing the pot, busting from the tournament, thus making everyone left...richer. It's called implicit collusion.

I vowed never to watch a split-pot poker final table ever again. Too many times it's two people in the hand and one person has the best possible high hand and the other holds the best possible low hand resulting in the pot being split. So you get to watch two people betting back and forth only to have the cards shown down at the river and each person taking their bets back.

Got a new CD from Dad for my birthday. It's a double disc set and of all the collections of Barry White's hits this by far is the ULTIMATE. Thanks Dad. I would recommend it for all you swingin bachelors. It's cheaper than an Escalade and works just the same.

Speaking of good music I recently purchased Lucero's new CD Nobody's Darlings and it's on heavy rotation. My favorite CD of 2005 would have to be....BE by Common. Kanye produced it and every track is tight as hell.

Two sad notes:

Footer's Band North to Emerson broke up. Their drummer quit after traded in his 'drinking and rocking' for 'loving and boring' . I heard he wears Docker's now. They did have a song on MTV once and I think they will get back to rockin' the hell out of rock and roll as soon as they find a new drummer. The only reason they were a band as long as they were because I didn't kill Gus when I had the chance.

I found out Chris LeDoux died last year!?!?! In fact he died in March 2005 but I didn't know until I saw the dead people montage at the end of the Grammy Awards. That's too bad. Did anyone else know he passed? I celebrate his entire catalogue.

Hey dudes. Ryan visited last weeked too! He didn't know Chris would be here but I didn't COMPLETELY ruin the surprise like Danie says. After we picked up Danie from work she told me to "pick up this really nice homeless guy". We rolled up on Chris lounging by a bush nearby.

Moener baked banana bread and shot an AK-47 last weekend. I don't know which he liked best but I am sure he felt more comfortable behind an AK-47 than he did in front of the toilet after a long night out on the strip. It was ultimately my getaway driving that made him sick. He has never thought that much of my driving or my indoor fireworks displays.

We've been through a lot since we met during the second term of the Clinton administration. So just like old times we recklessly abondoned our better judgement just for a couple cheap thrills. I'm talking about the rides at the Stratosphere. Me, Ryan, Chris, and Matt LeBlanc(from Amarillo, not Friends) rode the boring rides made exciting by the fact you're dangling off a frickin' building.

All I could think about was my Mom. I know if she found out I was riding these rides she would be soooooooo.......J-E-A-L-O-U-S!!!!!! It'll be here when you get here Mom!

Together Again

Romance was in the air when Chris and Moener came to sin city.

Alright people. It's picture time. I will do everyone a favor and not put up pictures from this weekend with my fat ass in them. Don't worry, you can still make fun of the fat kid on Danie's blog. I just want to say, you're not all that slender yourself Gary.

I'll be the first to admit that the writing on my blog sucks. My problem is that I wait too long to post the pictures so late at night I'll slap something together hastily while playing a single table poker tournament and watching the daily show. I am going to make an effort to make an effort when posting. I am not as talented as Danie when it comes to writing fluffy, quirky little stories but she writes for a living and has been fluffy and quirky for 24 years now. Happy Birthday Danie.

Chris came to town 3 days after booking his flight. He is the one in the pictures without the cool goatee. He was scheduled to go one a whirlwind cross country(sans the east) tour with his band Dude Bazooka but the venues fell through. Instead of killing time in Fargo he came to visit me. He likes cheesecake, lasagna, video games, and drinking. We did them all. He had the chocalate mudslide cheesecake at the Cheesecake factory. In the New York New York casino they have pizza and lasagna by the slice until 3 am. You can play all the video games all day at Gameworks for 35 bucks. As for drinking, you can do that 24 hours a day in Vegas.

Happy New Year dudes! It was packed on the strip. PACKED!!!! 300,000 plus and after the $500,000 firework display was over we still had to walk back to the car. We had to park at the Klondike casino and technically it wasn't even a parking spot. We went into the casino because there was a restaurant inside. It's the fanciest casino on the strip. HANDS DOWN! By fanciest, I mean trashiest. They had two good specials going on when we were there so I had them BOTH. 99 cents gets you two pancakes and an egg. $1.49 gets you 2 eggs, sausage or bacon, home fries(hashbrowns), and toast. I wasn't really hungry but who can turn down a deal like that?

Christmas Dinner

Me and Danie had dinner on Christmas Eve at the Carnival World Buffet located in the Rio. If you have the best buffet in Vegas that puts you in good running for best buffet in the world. We got champagne with our "brunch" and I ate a LOT!!! It was really really good. I ate chicken wings, beans, sushi, king crab legs, barbeque ribs, prime rib, turkey, pizza, shrimp, roast duck, french fries and a quesadilla.

Sushi sucks. It tastes like raw fish. Who knew?

Ok, is this better? I know it's easier to read. Let me know. I'm kind of stuck on this one.

I apologize for not updating as much. I don't like sharing a story and competing with Danie. She is a better writer and usually posts faster. Grr! But I will get back to telling stories and posting pictures. Here are two of the former:

1. I Finally finished training for my T-Mobile customer care job. Finished top of class so I got to pick the only shift/schedule with weekends off. So now I can got Vegas every weekend and still play Halo against Dale and Chris on Sunday.

2. The big time players were playing high stakes poker at the Aladdin last week. I know this because one of the dealers during that game was dealing when I was playing downstairs in the low stakes main room. If you've seen the World Poker Tour on the Travel Channel you probably know who Gus Hansen is. Anyway, when this guy was dealing Gus won a 2+ Million dollar pot against Barry Greenstein and Johnny Chan. That's more than I make in a week! Now when I won pots this dealer dealt me I tipped upwards of 2 dollars. Bigger the pot, bigger the tip is the rule. When Gus Hansen beat Barry Greenstein's Aces w/ a 3 and a 2 this dealer got a 30,000 dollar tip.

I was playing in a multi-table tournament online with a $2 buy in. 107 people bought in.

I got 7th place because of this miracle I hit.

Here is how the hand played out.

Recap:
Ok. I am in the small blind w/ 10k in chips. There are 14 people left in the 107 player tournament. The blinds are 600(small) and 1200(big). I am a short stack since I have less than 10 Big Blinds. Since you can't make a standard raise pre-flop without committing over a 3rd of my chips I have to push it in under almost any circumstance. Now mdh4380 had just pushed in the last two hand preflop winning blinds without contest. Now he just calls the big blind from early position. Fishy to say the least. I know he has a premium hand but I have two black queens. Everyone else folds to me in the small blind. I decided to go all in since the blinds are getting high and I was going to cash since 18 places paid. I had a pretty good feeling I was ahead against mdh4380 but the Big Blind GIO called my 9k raise instantly. UH OH! I know that I'm behind now. Then mdh4380 calls. He only has 600 bucks left on the Jack high flop and it goes in. He doesn't have anything but all his money is pretty already in the pot. That is when I get to see the cards.

"Oh great, Aces, I knew it. I need a queen!"

Then I get to see that mdh4380 has 1 of the two remaining queens. Don't worry fans, I got there!

"If you get there on the river, you can't get outdrawn"

If you run a simulation using Pokerstove, here are the pre-flop win percentages:

Behind the Excalibur.

Danie brought me bowling with some people she works with. We went bowling at Sunset Station casino. 72 lanes....s-e-v-e-n-t-y-t-w-o-o-o-o-o!!!!!The bowling alleys are open 24 hours here. What isn't? After midnight it's 2 bucks a game and that's when we started. There was about 7 of us and 1 was a serious bowler dude. His name is Joel and not only did have his own ball, he had the fanciest bowling bag ever. It had wheels. It was huge. It had to be to carry his shoes. What else did it carry????? Watch this to find out.

DAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We finally made it to Hoover Dam and the weather couldn't have been better. Why would we drive all that way(30 mins) when it's raining? Because it wasn't a sight seeing trip, more of a get rich scheme. This was tuesday morning and we had one thing on our minds. To win the Powerball. Nevada doesn't participate but our neighbor Arizona does. We had to drive to Rosie's Den. According to the sign it's world famous. It's not even in a town. It's just a diner on the highway and it was flippin' packed. The Lotto tickets were selling like hotcakes! I did see their hotcakes and they are bigger than at Kroll's. Trust me Dad, they're huge. We were fourth in line but we found out it was the line for 100 minimum. We found the right line and it was massive. We ducked it by getting all quick picks. Alright. I haven't posted in a while and I will tell you why. Me and Danie went to San Diego last weekend. We took a lot of pictures of the ocean and even videos. I would share them with y'all but I deleted them all on accident. I am still pissed.

Well San Diego is about a 5 hour drive from Las Vegas. It's like driving from Fargo to Bowbells if North Dakota had desert and mountains, but it's the same distance at least.

We stayed at a hotel saturday by Mission Bay. The ocean is awesome. People in California look exactly like you would think they look like. Along the beach almost every balcony had a wetsuit hanging of the edge and the ones that didn't I'm assuming is because they were wearing theirs. Downtown has a lot of nice stores and a lot of bars. They even had an indoor classic car lot. They had a sweet 1957 Bentley and some other beauties. We drank at Hennessey's. The house music was reggae. Irish Pub and Jamaican music. We didn't go to the San Diego zoo on Sunday as planned. We went back to the beach and Danie took a nap. She drank way too much the night before!

The worst thing about my new apartment is that you cannot own a grill. Evidently, they think people like Danie who don't know how to grill would burn down the building. No grill means no Johnsonville "Beddar with Cheddar" Brats for breakfast. In it's stead, I have Johnsonville Vermont maple syrup breakfast sausage. It tastes just as good as it looks!

Speaking of food, me and danie were driving and I saw a store called "Phillippine Fast Food". It was closed but I will definitely go there during the day to see if I can get some balut. Delish.
